MI6 memo surfaces in Congress

The media may have taken a pass at the latest leaked bombshell memo from Britain, but House Dems are petitioning Bush for an explanation. My guess is that the Bush administration will say that it will not comment on "leaked" material, and the issue will expire without much further comment.

Ignore, deny and obfuscate will be the watchwords regarding this hot potato.

It's really amazing that this isn't receiving more attention. While the public may have been lulled into believing that the war is now about spreading democracy (as opposed to removing WMD), the complacency of the press regarding this new information is galling. After I first found out about the memo's release (last Friday), I did some poking around just to see if the network media had picked up. Nary a peep on the mainstream mojo wire.

So far, this stands as one of the most important unreported stories in recent memory. It has the potential to bring down this Teflon-coated Administration - assuming that the truth will stick.

Another busy weekend...

Every year, my immediate family gathers to celebrate of a grouping of birthdays. My dad, my mom, my aunt and I all have birthdays within a week of each other - so, everyone migrates to Clyde's Prime Rib off of Sandy (formerly the Coon Chicken Inn) to celebrate another set of milestones. The event is especially significant due to recent birth of my cousin Marcia's daughter Keira - who has a birthday in March (along with her Mom and my brother).

This year was more exausting for Alexis and I. Greer is very active these days and keeping him occupied in a restuarant is a two-person endeavor that will take the starch out of anyone. Thankfully, Greer was fairly well behaved and only had to be removed when it was clear that Mom wouldn't get to eat while he was the table. It's a common ritual that is repeated every week. Dad wolfs down dinner while Mom attempts to eat and feed the boy. Dad finishes just in time to distract/take over - so Mom can feed herself. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

This particular intervention moment at the Prime Rib was punctuated when Greer whacked me in the eye with his spoon in protest over being removed from his clinging position at Alex's shoulder. He began howling as I carted him out the door - propped him on my shoulders - and began wandering up Sandy Street to visit a colorful collection of nearby Rhodedendron bushes. This seemed to pacify him, but it was past his bedtime - and the evening was only half-over. We returned to the restaurant to share a hot-fudge sundae with the family - and then exited early to make a stop at home before gathering (again) at Aunt Dianne's for presents and more family time. With Greer in his jammies, we stayed out way too late (Greer began melting at 9pm) - and once again scooted early on his behalf.

Ah....family life.

In other news....

The greatest smoking-gun news link that you'll never hear about. This story about a (another) leaked British intellegence (MI-6) file lays out the hard, cold facts regarding the Bush Administrations pre-meditated designs on a war with Iraq. Specifically, that "the intellegence and facts were being fixed around the policy (to invade Iraq)". It also outlines the attempt to pawn responsibility off on lapses within the CIA - when, in fact - it was the White House that was fabricating this hawkish position to lobby for war. So far, this story has only been only been seen in a few U.S. newspapers - and has virtually been ignored by the mainstream press.
